Three new Sports Consultants join the team

By Team CSUSA
We are delighted to announce the hiring of three new Sports Consultants to the team at College Scholarships USA. Pernille Lund from Norway, Nathan Gillis from England, and Adam Farrell from Ireland will help more student-athletes obtain scholarships to study and compete in American college sports.

All three Sports Consultants have been student-athletes in North America. Nathan and Pernille have highly successful track and field backgrounds and Adam had an award-winning soccer career in the US college soccer system.

– Finding the right ingredients for our team is extremely important, and with these three hires, we’ve found exceptional talent. Pernille, Nathan, and Adam are hungry and will walk the extra mile, or should I say “run” the extra mile for the student-athletes they will guide through the college recruiting process, said Stewart Stanbra, CEO at College Scholarships USA. Pernille and Nathan will mainly work with the track and field athletes in all our markets, while Adam will be a great addition to our team of Sports Consultants focusing on soccer for men and women in Ireland, the UK and Denmark.

“The Pernille Lund File”

Growing up in Oslo, Pernille, originally a young gymnast, transitioned to track and field where she discovered her aptitude and passion for speed and sprinting, specifically the 100m and 200m.

Pernille embarked on her Canadian and US college adventure in 2018. She competed as a track and field athlete for the University of Ottawa for two years. She holds a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology from the University of Ottawa, Canada, a B.A. in Psychology from University of Oslo and a B.A. in Sports Sciences from Norwegian School of Sports Sciences.

In a quest to further sharpen her sprinting skills and expand her life and educational experience, Pernille searched for University athletic programs abroad. Fielding a number of offers, she opted to join the “GeeGees” track and field team at uOttawa, a bilingual university located in Canada’s capital city. From 2018 to 2020 uOttawa provided her the opportunity to work with national team coaches, Olympic medalists and a group of gifted athletes and devoted coaches. She has been honored twice with the title of “Academic All-Canadian” for her achievements in both academics and sports.

She competed in Canada at the provincial and national championships for Canadian College Sports. She also competed at several meets in the US, including events hosted at two Ivy League Universities, namely Harvard in Boston, Mass. and Cornell in Ithaca, NY. Traveling within North America provided a diverse and broadened experience competing against elite varsity teams of large state colleges/universities which offered immense track facilities and highly energized fans.

– My time in Canada and the USA was extremely rewarding. It made me really feel like I was part of something big and significant. Some of the universities in North America are enormous in size and boast athletic teams that are large in numbers with impressive financial support and spirit. Walking into tracks, filled with both athletes and fans, were “goosebump” moments that created memories that still motivate my sprint training. The memories will truly last a lifetime. I look back at these two years in North America as an absolute highlight in my sports career and I am so excited to help others experience this, through my job as a Sports Consultant with CSUSA, said Pernille.

“The Nathan Gillis File”

Nathan, from Oxford in the UK, comes to College Scholarships USA after five years in the US completing his undergraduates in Psychology, and most recently graduating in an International business Management Masters from Cardiff Metropolitan University. He is still competing internationally in athletics.

– I am really happy to begin working with CSUSA. The process of going to the US as a student-athlete is something I know can be truly life-changing, and helping my clients achieve this dream will be a true privilege. With my experiences in two very different parts of the US, and still competing to a high level in athletics, I hope the network I’ve built within the US college system can provide opportunities for student-athletes they did not think were possible before starting this brilliant process with us, said Nathan.

Nathan started his career at Lamar University in 2015. Lamar competes in the Southland Conference in the NCAA D1. Nathan in his freshman year medaled in the Indoor and Outdoor Conference Championships, achieving a bronze and silver medal in the 800m. His achievements qualified him to represent Great Britain internationally and compete in the 2016 Olympic trials, whilst also ranking inside the top 10 under 23’s in Europe for the 800m.

After transferring to LaSalle University in 2017, an NCAA D1 school in Pennsylvania, Nathan achieved 4 gold and 2 silver medals in the Atlantic 10 conference championships. He won back-to-back 1km indoor titles, back-to-back 4x800m relay titles, and came second twice with the distance medal relay team. Nathan was also a scoring member in the winning Atlantic 10 cross country team in 2019.

“The Adam Farrel File”

Adam joins College Scholarships USA after competing and studying in the US for four years. Adam is currently based in Odense, Denmark, where he is preparing to graduate with a master’s degree in International Business and management.

Adam spent one year at Davenport University, Michigan, competing in the NAIA Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Then transferred to University of North Georgia, where he competed in the Peach Belt conference in NCAA D2. At UNG, he also spent an additional half year as student assistant coach before moving to Denmark.

Before moving to the United States. Adam played at the highest youth level in Ireland for Shelbourne FC, where he made his senior team debut in a friendly game versus Ipswich town at just 16 years of age, and then played for Drogheda United later in his youth career. Along the way, he also managed to pick up two youth national team caps for the Republic of Ireland.

– Studying and playing soccer in the US has given me memories and life experiences that I will never forget. The journey itself has not only helped me to grow academically and athletically, but it has helped to shape me into the person I am today. At CSUSA, I hope to assist many players and students from my home country and around the world to reach their goals on and off the field, and to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity, said Adam.

Welcome to the team, Pernille, Nathan and Adam!
