"The friendships and memories I have made since coming out here are ones I will never forget, and I've only been here for seven months"

Name: Aleisha Cruwys
Sport: Soccer
School: Lenoir-Rhyne University
Year: Freshman

What was the reason for going to college?
It allowed me to continue playing the sport I love at a high level whilst studying to earn a degree. I also saw it as an opportunity to help develop my game by playing with teammates from all around the world. You learn to play/adapt to a different style of play.

What is the best thing about being in college?
Getting to travel to different parts of the country with your team and go through new experiences that wouldn’t have happened if I were playing back home. Having big home crowds attend your games to support and cheer you on – Bears support Bears! Meeting the incredible people that are doing the same thing as you, whether they’re on your team, play a different sport or just someone that’s in one of your classes

To this date, what is your best memory?
Beating nationally ranked Limestone in our season opener with 11 seconds left on the clock.

What is your best advice to the people back home debating whether to go to the US or not?
Take the opportunity if it’s there! It has been the best decision I have ever made. If you try it and it’s not for you, that’s fine, as you can always return home. But if you’re on the fence and don’t give it a shot, you will regret it for the rest of your life. The friendships and memories I have made since coming out here are ones I will never forget, and I’ve only been here for seven months.
